The Fourth Estate

In the yesteryears the newspapers were the transcript of the happenings around the world and played a predominant role in our freedom struggle too. But today, in India they are in a frame of doubt as to what they should write and what its impacts are! Recently I happened to see a news report vacillate its stand. I still don’t know what the truth is! In fact we all don’t know what the actual thing is!

Some days ago as we all are aware an encounter took place in Delhi. Two alleged terrorists and a police officer were killed. The newspaper on its prima facie reported the news explaining about the time and background of the incidence portraying it as a real one.

Few days passed by there was a report saying that the encounter may be a fake one similar to the one that took place in Gujarat. There were serious hues and cries about the alienation of the Muslims in this country. People started expressing their views in their letters and were made believe that the encounter was a fake one and there was even a disbelief in the death of the honest police officer who sacrificed his life for the country.

A week later the same newspaper in its editorial points out the exact truth behind the incident and concluded that the encounter was a real one and the police officer lost his life fighting terrorists.

This is the plight of today’s “FOURTH ESTATE” as people find it difficult to differentiate the truth and fiction.

Mindboggling!! for a first post, seriously good. And a good topic. A very serious message conveyed. I'd say now a days, its more about stagnating the news and increasing controversy. The only medium- the press that should be strong is wavering now. I cant suggest a solution though.
Good post man. Keep posting.

hmmm... the engine of the train is pretty hot!!! let the coaches be good too...
Indian newspapers have come to a stage where they can't talk the truth about things... Commercialization has played its role there too... as our "TR" says..
