Dangerous precedent

The preamble of our constitution states that all Indians have solemnly decided to constitute our country into a social, secular and democratic republic. The country gives the fundamental right for all citizens to live and settle anywhere in this country. Today we are witnessing one of the dirtiest breaches of our constitutional laws. Is our country a hostage to a few people who lives only for money and power?

The recent attack on north Indians in Mumbai has spurred a new movement in our country. The north Indians have come to Maharashtra for their livelihood. They are beaten up by a group of political hoodlums who call themselves the savior of Maharashtra. They have even beaten a group of north Indians who have come to write a Railway examination.
The legislatures in the state have not taken any step in this regard. Every time they are just uttering words of condemnation after the attack. They have not done anything to prevent any further attacks. Even the High court of Maharashtra has condemned the attacks and had passed a gag order to silence the leader of the group.

Nothing could stop them as they kept attacking the people. The law of the land was tarnished. It was a good time for the media as they kept discussing the pros and cons of the attacks. I happened to see some people in the media even supporting the cause of the attacks. Two persons have already died regarding these recent incidents. One was a depressed young man and another was allegedly lynched by a group of people in a local train for the only reason that he was a north Indian. Where are we heading to? The very freedom that people enjoy; that is working and settling anywhere in our country is slowly losing its way.

Our country being a democratic one has given full power to the legislatures. Even if they are devoid of power and they keep watching these kinds of incidents without taking any proper action, then it’s high time for the civil society to step in to wage a war against these hooligans. The country is facing a serious internal threat. There will emerge a vigilante in every nook and corner of India. The legislature, executive and judiciary should work in tandem to stop this kind of anarchy. Nobody is above the law. Every action should be taken to contain this before it goes out of hand.

Yeah.. this is the sorry state of the country.. its dominant in a lot of states of late.. I thought intolerance is prevailing only over religion.. now against other states people too.. We do need a vigilante to control this..
People are taking law into their own hands.. I guess its time the military intervened.
Nice post. Your blog keeps getting better and better.

There is a general saying that the law protects both the troublers (those who trouble) and the troublees (those who are subjected to trouble)... However.. these days i think the law is biased towards the former and the latter have become troublees even in the law point of view...
Good thought! Rang De Basanti!

Gr8 work jp, what u said is really true. our country is now in the hands of few hooligans. People like Raj Thackerey n all is misleading the youth of today and using them for such unlawful acts. These kind of people should be just shot dead in an encounter or somethin.
