India got Independence on August 15th, 1947.Everyone here are aware of that and no Indian can deny that very fact. But do we really got the freedom which we desired? India may be free from foreign rulers but are we really free from foreign invaders? India is still not free from foreign invaders. Three hundred and fifty years ago the invasion was through power. Now the invasion is through markets.
India was a poor country when it got independence. It was a tough task ahead for our leaders to take India through to the top of the world. Self belief was the key to India’s success to grow as a developing nation. Until 1990,we had many prime ministers and they all did their part to make good use of indigenous resources and India was growing in a rapid pace to compete with the global partners. One thing India was proud until 1990 was that India did not wish to enter the global markets and it was growing on its own without the help of other countries unlike our neighboring countries.
From 1990,the era of globalization began.India slowly started to enter into the world market.A few years passed by,the foreign companies have started to creep into our Indian market.I can correlate that entry with the entry of East India Company when the Mughals were ruling our country.Then they slowly started to develop into a monopoly as indigenous products started to slow down.Till now it has been a rapid growth for the foreign companies.A few Indian companies also have their brand in world market but they are very few compared to the number of foreign companies in India.I can correlate those companies with the princely states when the British was ruling our country.
Despite Indian products giving a good quality, the rich started looking for the brands.Slowly there was a change of trend in their life style too.Everybody started following the western culture.Indians are not devoid of intelligence.The foreign companies started to hire the best individuals and many IT companies started to flourish here.There was an exact U-turn in attitudes of many individuals.The purchasing power of the people started to increase.Everybody was on the lookout for iPods, cappuccino as for them the foreign brands give the utmost satisfaction.As for example, the Indian coffee house which was started many years ago started to decline.The diet of people changed.Everybody started wanting only burgers,pizzas.Due to this increase in purchasing power of the few,the inflation in the country went on an upward trend.The irony is that the worst affected by this was the poor people in the country. Due to the excessive use of foreign goods,global warming is on a rise.Now again the worst affected is the poor.
Today everyone is proud of the fact that the economic growth of India is above 9 p.c.But the impacts are countless.There is an increase in the poverty level.The prices of the products increase. There are no new projects coming up because of the lack of funds.People started taking loans without knowing their repaying capacity.Due to non repayment,banks started to crash. Thanks to the control by Reserve Bank of India(RBI) and strict laws by the government of India that India is somewhat insulated from global financial crisis. There was a heavy retrenchment of employees in various reputed companies.This is what we are today.Here starts the ugly face of globalization.We are free from foreign rulers but we are not totally free.They are dominating our markets and are indulged in brain-drain by taking the best brains for use in their country.So India has to wake up from these things and start working on a goal such that we are equally accessible to the world and we are strong enough to be ourselves. There lies the real Independence.

True, but we cannot blame this invasion on other countries, since it seems that most Indians are traitors to the foreign cause. Ref. Brain Drain.
It is also very difficult for us to thrive on technology that is otherwise unavailable. Ex: The only country that can make IRON without its ore is China (Something they wont share)
The reason for Outsourcing is the cheap labor (in Asian countries --> Korea,Taiwan)and most FOREIGN brands have set up manufacturing here in INDIA. Its likely that that wont change since the world thinks the Indian market is by far the biggest investing community in the world.
Be it Electronics,Clothes or Toothpicks.
The country would ONLY improve if money flows in (legally) instead of most Chief Minister's Holiday in the Bahamas.
So much for independence. Lets hope.

its really true. but i don't think we can help it. we talk about it but we can't resist having pizza and burger. :-)
however, it is pretty evident from the markets that they are just puppets under few officials and the global markets.
only if this condition changes, can we go to what we can from where we are.
Words such as Independence and Freedom are a facade in India.
I'm sickened that despite 61 years of so called independence, our country remains a developing nation at best with more than 30% of its population living way beyond comprehensible measures!
Quite often, I think about hong-kong that was returned to China in 1999(?) after being a Brit colony for long! I'm amazed at the level and pace of development there!
Could it not have happened in India? Well, it talks volumes about the will of Governments! A lot of people ask me what is it that I do about it and my answer remains stoic and emphatic when saying "Nothing." Why should I as a taxpayer not be entitled to the best? And besides, I don't have to do what the government needs to!
